A comforting soup with a perfectly golden gratin

Serves 4

6 large yellow onions

40g of butter

1 tablespoon of olive oil

2 cloves of chopped garlic

1 tablespoon of flour

1 liter of beef broth or vegetable broth

120 ml of dry white wine (optional)

1 bay leaf

1 sprig of thyme

Salt

Black pepper

1 baguette or a few slices of country bread
