For the Beef Layer
1 lb (450 g) ground beef
1 small onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (15 oz / 425 g) tomato sauce
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
Salt and black pepper to taste
For the Noodle Layer
8 oz (225 g) egg noodles
1 cup sour cream
1 cup cottage cheese (or ricotta cheese)
For Topping
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or a cheddar-mozzarella blend)
